LASSA Meeting on January 15, 2008 Held at METRO
1.Wiki Linda Braun showed us how to modify and update our LASSA wiki page. http://www.metro.org/collaborate/index.php/Library_Assistants_and_Support_Staff
2. Library Assistants Day April 17th at NYPL SIBL (Science, Industry and Business) 188 Madison Avenue, New York, NY 10016. There are six rooms available to use and four rooms have computers but we would not use all four rooms for computer classes. We are not sure we can use the computers at all but if so, attendees would probably have to share a computer. The council members should be there around 7:30 am Registration & Breakfast will be 8:45-9:45 am SIBL opens at 10:00 am to patrons Workshops: A. Web 2.0-Ellyssa Kroski B. Resume-Continuing Education-Ellen Mehilling C. Nutrition-Latash D. Leadership Development-Kimberly Sweetman E. Financial Planning-From Brooklyn Public F. Writing that Sizzles, effective emails and memorable - Gerry Peralberg Linda will check out this The workshops will be approximately 1 to 1 1/4 hours. We are hoping to offer participates the opportunity to attend two workshops.
Presenters will hopefully do the workshops twice to give the attendees an opportunity to attend two workshops.
Door Prizes if any will need to be done in the individual classrooms.
At the last workshop we will give out the ticket for door prizes Two of us per room to help give out the prizes in the individual rooms. We will need gifts for the door prizes, plz. bring at least two.
3. Certificate of Achievement Rita shared with us her booklet with the guidelines.
4. Start thinking of funding for the conference at Liverpool, especially if you will be requesting funding from your department. Start now!!!
5. Next meeting March 19th 9:30 Anthony will try to get a room at SIBL
