In July, the New York Public Library announced the selection by President Obama of David S. Ferriero, the Andrew W. Mellon Director of the New York Public Libraries, as the next Archivist of the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration.

“The New York Public Library is thrilled at the news of this prestigious nomination,” said NYPL President Dr. Paul LeClerc. “David’s leadership has helped advance the Library and expand the vast publics it serves in an era of rapidly evolving information needs. He has been a marvelous colleague and friend, and I am tremendously pleased that America will now benefit from the talent and professionalism that David will bring to the management of the National Archives.”
